Over the past 15 years medical centers and individual physicians have used telemedicine to provide healthcare services to people in need from around the globe. ATA is interested in helping such initiatives. This meeting will be used to identify various outreach models and to compare non-profit and for-profit approaches. The morning will focus on partnerships with military and civilian government agencies, non-governmental organizations and others to reach and serve areas of distress including developing nations and world disaster sites. The afternoon will have reports on a number of current initiatives and will examine financial models that allow such initiatives to be self sustaining.
Rapporteurs will attend panels and roundtable presentations to prepare a summary of each session for a final meeting report. The following people will serve as rapporteurs throughout the meeting day: |
- Cynthia Barrigan, USAMRMC, TATRC, Fort Detrick, MD
- Carolyn Bloch, Bloch Consulting Group, Potomac, MD

Panel: Statewide Telehealth Initiatives and Regional Collaborations -- Creative Partnerships & Successful Solutions
New! This session will utilize the VisionTree Conference Live! software platform to conduct live surveys and provide feedback on the issues being discussed – all in real time. All participants are encouraged to bring their laptop, PDA or SmartPhone to Tuesday’s events to utilize this technology first hand.
This panel provides a showcase for successful statewide and regional health services connectivity initiatives in regionally and demographically diverse areas across the country. Panelists will discuss how sustainable telehealth networks and remote health collaborations are realized through creative partnerships and development models; examples include programs in regions of the country that benefit from a dominant healthcare provider, competing regional providers, public and private support and/or community infrastructure coordination. The panel also will examine the effect of federal and state initiatives, such as the FCC Rural Health Care Pilot, on opportunities for successful collaborative relationships. Included case studies:
