Mental Telehealth Special Interest Group Report
June 2, 2002
First, I'm extremely
pleased to report what for us was a historic event, our first-ever
pre-meeting tutorial, chaired by Steve Cozza, from Walter Reed Army
Medical Center, and contributed to by seven members. Since so much
work went into it, we're planning to make one more push and write
it up to submit to Telemedicine
Journal and E-Health.
We're also very
happy with the strong telemental
health presence on the scientific program this year, with 15
oral presentations and 11 posters.
At our SIG forum,
we had a great turnout and lots of active participation. We've established
a SIG Executive Committee composed of myself and four other members
who've volunteered to lead collaborative projects this coming year:
-
Steve Cozza
will be the Vice Chair of our SIG and lead our 2003 pre-meeting
tutorial.
-
Skip Parker,
also from WRAMC, will lead a clinical guidelines project.
-
Eve-Lynn
Nelson, soon to be from Kansas University Medical Center, will
lead an effort to compile an online directory of telemental
health resources.
-
Gene Augusterfer,
of globalehealth.net,
will lead discussion in the SIG about international telemental
health.
-
And I'll
take responsibility for facilitating general interaction among
SIG members and forwarding input from our SIG to the ATA Board
of Directors on more general (i.e., not specific to mental health)
telemedicine issues.
See you in Orlando!
